Istanbul trip coming up, need to sort a rental car

Taking my wife to Istanbul next month, both of us have wanted to go for years. The plan is to really dig into the history of the place, hit the major landmarks, explore different neighborhoods and get out to some of the surrounding areas that most tourists skip. With that kind of itinerary relying on taxis or figuring out public transport every day sounds exhausting, so renting a car makes more sense. Where do people usually sort that out for Istanbul?

    Upamekan  Istanbul traffic is notoriously brutal, so if you're planning to drive within the city itself that's worth keeping in mind. Where a rental really pays off is for day trips outside Istanbul, places like Bursa, the Princes' Islands area or the Bosphorus villages on the Asian side that are a pain to reach any other way. Booking through an international platform before you fly gives you more options and better rates than whatever's available at the airport on arrival.
