Don't chase a fantasy item

Usually it wrecks the thing. Chaos and Exalted usage should come with a plan, not a mood. If the staff already gives your build a clear damage jump, that may be enough. Most players don't need a dream weapon. They need one that clears well, bosses cleanly, and doesn't eat the rest of their league budget. That's the part people forget when they're staring at a half-finished rare and convincing themselves it's almost there.
Watch the market before you commit
The smartest crafters aren't just looking at affixes. They're watching trade as well. Sometimes your next few crafting attempts cost more than a finished weapon listed by someone else, and that's the moment to stop being stubborn. It happens a lot, especially once you get into expensive late-stage rolls. If the numbers don't work, they don't work. Save the gamble for a better base or for a future project, and if the market offers a stronger answer, it's often wiser to buy Exalted Orb value through trade planning instead of forcing one more risky click on a staff that's already taken enough from you.
