The “Paving the Way” quest in ARC Raiders can cause confusion because its instructions do not clearly explain where each objective must be completed. If you are trying to protect your ARC Raiders Items while progressing efficiently, knowing the correct map order is especially useful. The first objective is tied to Dam Battlegrounds, while the second requires a trip to Buried City.
Head to Dam Battlegrounds First
Start the quest by entering Dam Battlegrounds. Although the mission text may suggest that Buried City is also an option, the ENELICA location needed for the opening objective cannot be found there.
Once inside Dam Battlegrounds, make your way toward Water Treatment Control. This area provides one of the easiest landmarks for locating the required building. You can also check the small bunker-like structure close to the Blue Gate extraction area.
Rather than searching for a prominent ENELICA facility, focus on finding the interactive Notice Board associated with the researcher’s note.
Check the Notice Board
When you reach the correct structure, inspect the area around the southern entrance. The Notice Board can be found near the entrance or along the outside wall.
Interact with it to read the researcher’s note. This completes the first stage of the quest. Once the objective has been recorded, there is no need to continue searching the surrounding area for another ENELICA location.
This small detail makes a major difference. Players who follow the wording of the quest too literally can spend an entire raid checking Buried City without finding what they need. Starting at Dam Battlegrounds avoids that problem and gives you a clear first objective.
Make a Fresh Run to Buried City
After finishing the Notice Board interaction, prepare for another raid. The next objective takes place on Buried City, so you cannot simply complete both parts at the same location.
When you load into Buried City, head toward Piazza Roma on the western side of the map. Your target is the Convinio building, which combines a supermarket and apartment complex.
Several landmarks can help you identify it. The building is close to Marano Park and the city hall, making this area easier to recognize if you are moving through the western section of the map.
Find the Upper Floor
Enter the Convinio building through the main entrance and work your way toward the back. On the left side, you should find an elevator shaft.
Inside the shaft is a zipline that can help you reach the upper floors quickly. If you prefer, you can also use the stairs and other safe routes to climb upward.
One important detail is that the objective is not located on the exposed rooftop. Stop on the level immediately below the roof. Searching the actual rooftop will only waste time because the required research area is inside the building.
Search the Researcher's Apartment
Once you reach the correct floor, look for a desk surrounded by several computer monitors. This workstation is located inside the Researcher’s Flat and is the final key location for the mission.
Interact with the desk and search the Research Data. After the interaction is completed, the second objective should register, allowing you to finish the quest.
The easiest route can therefore be remembered as a simple two-raid sequence: Dam Battlegrounds first for the Notice Board, followed by Buried City for the research data. Keeping this order in mind prevents unnecessary backtracking and makes the mission considerably less frustrating.
Prepare Before Your Next Raid
“Paving the Way” is not mechanically difficult once the correct locations are known, but unexpected encounters can still make navigation dangerous. Carry practical supplies, avoid unnecessary inventory weight, and plan your extraction route before interacting with each objective.
