Specification five: mixing method. Static mixers are cheap and clean; dynamic mix heads suit extreme ratios and viscosities but require maintenance cycles. Specification six: software capability, including multi-layer pouring, line-versus-dot dispensing machine, weight compensation for gear-pump backlash, and recipe storage for quick changeovers. A machine scoring well on all six specifications will stay productive for a decade of product changes.
